A trick play? A fumble recovery? Nope: in pro-football-reference and the game logs it is listed as a -5 yard rush. Puzzling &#8211; why would they give him the ball? The answer is in the game write-up in the San Diego Union:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"180\" height=\"147\" src=\"https:\/\/ebydurbin.net\/profootballhistory\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/shea.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-79\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So Hadl, about to get sacked, lateraled the ball to a lineman. Who had nowhere to go and lost five yards. Pat Shea started 36 games over the course of his four-year career, and this is his only stat: one carry for minus five yards.
